Health & Wellness
In response to the crisis in the health of many Americans, the Y takes very seriously our role in improving the health of our communities.
By developing programs to help people who are seeking a healthier lifestyle, we impact many aspects of their lives.

Fitness Assessment (ages 18 and up)
A fitness assessment is a series of exercises that measure body composition, muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and flexibility resulting in a set of measurements that can be used as a baseline to measure progress. With these results in place, your fitness and exercise goals can be set realistically.
We currently offer two types of testing:
1. A fitness assessment, $58
2. A body composition assessment, $58
Components of a Fitness Assessment
Cardio respiratory fitness is related to the ability to perform large muscle, dynamic, moderate-to-high intensity exercise for prolonged periods. Types of testing to expect (one of the following): YMCA Step Test, the Rockport Walk Test or the bike/treadmill test.
Flexibility refers to the range of motion which occurs at a single joint or series of joints. Types of testing to expect: The sit and reach box will be used to measure flexibility of the lower back and hamstrings.
Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle group to exert a force continuously for a prolonged period of time. Types of testing to expect: The push-up test, sit-up test or the YMCA bench press
Muscular strength is the maximum force that can be generated by specific muscle or muscle group. Types of testing to expect: 1 RM Bench Press and Leg Press.
Components of a Body Composition
Body composition refers to the relative percentage of body weight that is fat and fat-free tissue. Maintaining a target percent body fat is an essential component of physical fitness. This is also a great way to help determine how well your strength training program is progressing. This method is quick and provides fairly accurate assessment of body fat percentage. Types of testing to expect: BMI, Waist-to-hip, skin fold measurements and circumferences.
