40 Developmental Assets for Youth
The YMCA of Greater St. Louis has joined forces with other YMCAs in the U.S. and the Search Institute to further develop the 40 developmental assets proven to be critical in the positive development of children. The Edward Jones Family YMCA uses the asset approach in youth programs. In swim lessons, for example, the YMCA helps kids build assets by providing support of caring instructors, motivation for learning and positive reinforcement.
