Capital Campaign

The Y’s “Building A Stronger, Healthier Community” capital fundraising campaign supports the YMCA of Greater St. Louis in a variety of ways. Facility renovations and expansions enable the Y to provide positive alternatives and safe havens for children, families and communities.

Recently the Y celebrated the grand opening of an 8,500 square-foot addition to the Four Rivers Area Family YMCA.  Facility expansion and renovation projects will come online soon at the South City and Jefferson County YMCAs.

But the capital campaign supports more than bricks and mortar!  In addition to facility expansion, the campaign seeks to increase the number of youth served in the urban core of our community in the areas of health and wellness, family and youth development.

Thanks to program development and expansion made possible by generous donations to the capital campaign, The Y is able to provide more programs and services to an increasing number of youth in our communities. These Y programs include:

Learning Labs:  Four labs offer children help with math and reading at the Monsanto and Emerson YMCAs, the YMCA Literacy Council and Cool Valley Elementary School.  A fifth lab is scheduled to open soon in the Carondelet Park Rec Complex.

Youth University:  Middle school and high school youth are encouraged to become the first generation in their families to attend college.  Youth University educates young people about college life and learning opportunities, and supports them in their decision to pursue a degree.

Youth in Government:  Capital campaign funds supported the expansion of this youth leadership and citizenship initiative.  More than 120 teens from YMCA branches located in the urban core of St. Louis participated in the YMCA Youth in Government annual convention in Jefferson City.
