YMCA of Greater St. Louis

Sports

This mainstay of YMCA programs for young people fills kids’ discretionary time with positive activities and caring adult attention. Children participating in Y Youth Sports learn about the importance of teamwork and building self-confidence.  Adults who volunteer as coaches have a unique opportunity to work with children and assist in building character in the process.

Grown ups need to play, too!  In YMCA adult sports leagues men and women focus on teamwork, relieve stress in their busy lives and find a social network of support and friendship.  Build your own team and challenge others who are looking for a fun sports environment. Games are supervised and refereed by our YMCA staff.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE

In inclement weather conditions, sport activities may be canceled if necessary. The following procedure is used for notifying participants of a cancelation:

YMCA staff will notify coaches at least one hour before game time. Coaches are responsible for canceling their own practice and notifying all players. The YMCA reserves the right to cancel any practice or games if the safety of the participants is compromised.

If Site Coordinator must cancel games after arriving at site, teams scheduled to play will be notified as soon as possible. We appreciate you understanding this situation.

Every effort will be made to make-up canceled games and coaches will be notified of make-up dates as soon as possible. Due to scheduling of the fields/gyms, make-up games are not guaranteed.

For Saturday Sports Cancelations, please visit our sports website at www.ymcastlouis.org/ofallon-family-ymca/sports.  Games cancelations will be determined 1 hour prior to the start of the first scheduled game of the day.

Through 17 locations in St. Louis City and County, St. Charles, Jefferson, Warren, Lincoln and Franklin Counties; Camp Lakewood and Trout Lodge in Washington County;  and more than 400 program sites, the YMCA serves more than 700,000 participants--building healthy spirits, minds and bodies.
