Annual Support Campaign

Arnetta is a single parent raising a 16-year-old daughter and 10-year-old twin sons. She has a demanding job that often leaves her mentally exhausted when she gets home. But she still makes time to take her children to the Downtown YMCA. “It’s a family outing on a whole new level,” said Arnetta. Like many kids, her daughter enjoys talking on the phone and her sons can’t get enough video game time. Belonging to the YMCA enables Arnetta and her family to focus on their mental health and physical activity. Arnetta sees results at home, too. “Sometimes people don’t know how to deal with the pressures of everyday life,” Arnetta said. “Going to the Y alleviates a lot of extra stress for me and my family.” Arnetta now hopes to pass on to others what she’s learned by starting a single-parent support group at the Downtown YMCA.

With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y reaches out to people of all income levels, races, religions and abilities. Join the many people who see the value of the Y.
