Fitness Assessment (ages 18 and up)
A fitness assessment is a series of exercises that measure body composition, muscular endurance, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and flexibility resulting in a set of measurements that can be used as a baseline to measure progress. With these results in place, your fitness and exercise goals can be set realistically.
We currently offer two types of testing:
1. A fitness assessment, $58
2. A body composition assessment, $58
Components of a Fitness Assessment
Cardiovascular Fitness
Cardio respiratory fitness is related to the ability to perform large muscle, dynamic, moderate-to-hgh intensity exercise for prolonged periods. Types of testing to expect (one of the following): YMCA Step Test, the Rockport Walk Test or the bike/treadmill test.
Flexibility
Flexibility refers to the range of motion which occurs at a single joint or series of joints. Types of testing to expect: The sit and reach box will be used to measure flexibility of the lower back and hamstrings.
Muscular Endurace
Muscular endurance is the ability of a muscle group to exert a force continuously for a prolonged period of time. Types of testing to expect: The push-up test, sit-up test or the YMCA bench press
Muscular Strength
Muscular strength is the maximum force that can be generated by specific muscle or muscle group. Types of testing to expect: 1 RM Bench Press and Leg Press.
Components of a Body Composition
Body composition refers to the relative percentage of body weight that is fat and fat-free tissue Maintaining a target perent body fat is an essential component of physical fitness. This is also a great way to help determine how well your strength training program is progressing. This method is quick and provides fairly accurate assessment of body fat percentage. Types of testing to expect: BMI, Waist-to-hip, skin fold measurements and circumferences.
Personal Training
You should hire a personal trainer if:
- You want to find a workout that will be challenging and time efficient to your individual fitness goals.
- You need someone to provide you with health and fitness information to get you on the right track.
- You need someone to give you proper exercise instructions.
- Your current fitness routine is not providing you with results and you need one that will give you the results you want.
- You are training for a competition and want to enhance your performance.
Types of Personal Training
Fitting in fitness/Circuit/interval training
Short on time and looking for a workout the will get you results? If you want a personalized workout that will be both challenging and time efficient, a trainer can show you how to fit is all into your busy schedule.
Functional Training
You want to improve your overall fitness level and be able to perform daily tasks with ease. Functional Training will incorporate dynamic movements to help make climbing stairs, carrying a backpack and lifting objects a breeze!
Sports-Specific Training
Looking to improve your running time, increase your cycling endurance or put more power into your tennis serve? Sports-Specific Training will help enhance your performance by focusing on movements to your certain sport.
Balance and Core Training
Our trainers can provide programs to improve posture, coordination and decrease rish of injury by focusing on balance and training the abdominal and lower back muscles.
Lifestyle Activity
Do you want to learn to incorporate fitness into your lifestyle to make it a life-long habit? A trainer can show you how to fit activity into yor daily routines to make you a healthy, life-long exerciser.
We offer Individual Personal Training (60 min.), Group Personal Training (60 min.), Individual Personal Training Express (30 min.) and Group Personal Training Express (30 min.)
