Spring Festival and Healthy Kids Day!

April 28, 2012 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

As parents, it can be difficult to find time to incorporate healthier habits into our kids’ daily routine, yet it’s essential for good health. Healthy habits don’t have to be a daunting task. It’s as simple as making a play date.

On Saturday, April 28th, 2012 the Downtown YMCA encourages families to make a play date at YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day. Healthy Kids Day is the nation’s largest health day of its kind for kids and families, celebrated at nearly sixteen hundred YMCAs across the country. The event is free and will feature activities such as youth fitness demonstrations, healthy food and information for families to have fun, be active and learn simple ways to improve their health and well-being.

The Y, a leading nonprofit for healthy living, created Healthy Kids Day to teach good health for kids, encourage active play and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity. By making time for a play date, families can have fun and achieve greater health and well-being for their spirit, mind and body.

There will be a number of local organizations joining us and providing entertaining activities for youths of all ages!  Stray Rescue of St. Louis will be there wilth many of their cute, furry friends!  St. Louis Fire Department will be bringing their Smokehouse to simulate fire situations in a safe environment.  Learn what to do in case of an emergency and how to put together an emergency exit plan.
